2025 Honorees

Congratulations to our 2025 Honorees

Philanthropist of the Year Award

JoAnn and Bob Glick

Nominated by MetroHealth and Urban Community School

When JoAnn and Bob Glick learned of MetroHealth’s vision to transform healthcare and uplift communities, they saw an opportunity to help shape a healthier future for Cleveland. As lifelong advocates for compassion, access and community wellness, the Glicks lead by example, using their philanthropy to strengthen the systems that support people across all walks of life. Their transformational $42 million gift – the largest in MetroHealth’s history – created The JoAnn and Bob Glick Fund for Healthy Communities and The JoAnn Zlotnick Glick Endowed Fund in Community Health Nursing. JoAnn’s background as a nurse gave her deep insight into the challenges faced by patients and caregivers, while Bob’s decades of entrepreneurial leadership and generosity have inspired others to give boldly. Their support has expanded programs like the Autism Assessment Clinic and the SAFE Project and helped MetroHealth surpass its “For All of Us” campaign goal, reaching $153 million. Through their support, MetroHealth became the first public, safety-net hospital to establish a professorship in Community Health Nursing with Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, where JoAnn received her MSN in community health nursing. Not only did the Glicks lend their name to The Glick Center, the 11-floor hospital tower that opened in November 2022, but they also continually share with family, friends and their network MetroHealth’s story as a vital part of the community. Their passion to give where others haven’t and to truly make a difference has already transformed lives, and that will have a ripple effect for generations to come.

Youth in Philanthropy Award

Sam Coury

Nominated by The Centers

At AFP Greater Cleveland, we are inspired by the compassion and creativity of young leaders like Sam Coury, recipient of the 2025 Youth in Philanthropy Award. At just 14 years old, Sam has already shown what it means to give selflessly and to care deeply for his community. His volunteer work with The Centers and other organizations reflects maturity, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility. Whether he is helping organize community projects, assisting with youth programs, or lending a hand wherever it is needed, Sam leads with quiet confidence and purpose. His example has inspired both his peers and the adults who work alongside him, proving that meaningful leadership can start at any age. Sam’s story reminds us that philanthropy is not just about resources, but about the willingness to see a need and take action. In celebrating his achievements, we also celebrate the promise of a new generation ready to make Cleveland stronger, kinder, and more connected.

Outstanding Foundation Award

Cleveland Cavaliers Community Foundation

Nominated by I Am Boundless

The Cavaliers Community Foundation continues to show us how passion and purpose can work hand in hand to uplift an entire region. Led by Executive Director Pam Frasco, the Foundation channels the excitement of professional sports into meaningful community impact. Every initiative they lead begins with a simple question: how can we make life better for those who call Northeast Ohio home? From programs that enhance youth education and recreation to health and wellness partnerships that serve families, their efforts reach far beyond Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The beloved Puppy with a Purpose initiative, which provides service dogs to U.S. Veterans or first responders with disabilities, captures the heart of their mission to spread joy and comfort wherever it is needed most. Players, staff, and fans all take part, creating a team that truly extends into the community. The Cavaliers Community Foundation reminds us that generosity is a team effort and that when we come together, we can turn compassion into real, lasting change.

Corporate Leadership Award

Bank of America

Nominated by Near West Theatre, Cuyahoga Community College Foundation, and Birthing Beautiful Communities

At AFP Greater Cleveland, we are proud to recognize Bank of America for its deep and enduring commitment to the people and communities of Greater Cleveland. Through thoughtful leadership and meaningful partnerships, Bank of America demonstrates what it means for a corporation to lead with purpose. Their work extends far beyond philanthropy, strengthening local nonprofits, expanding educational access, and advancing racial and economic equity. Their collaboration with Cuyahoga Community College has opened new pathways for students to succeed, while their partnership with Near West Theatre has brought the arts to life for families across our city. These investments, grounded in inclusion and creativity, reflect an understanding that opportunity takes many forms. Just as importantly, Bank of America’s associates serve as volunteers, mentors, and advocates, carrying the company’s values into neighborhoods and community spaces. Their approach reminds us that true corporate leadership is not measured in transactions but in transformation, built on trust, empathy, and shared progress.
