AFP Ten Star Gold Award

Ten Star Gold Award

The Ten Star Gold Award honors those chapters that have accomplished all of the required goals outlined in the AFP Strategic Plan, plus an additional six goals and the six mandatory goals as outlined on the application. The award encourages chapters to perform specific activities that increase professionalism in fundraising while promoting public awareness of philanthropy. Some of the areas included as objectives that must be accomplished are:

Professional Development

The chapter must host events focusing on ethics, diversity, and other requirements, including programs for Young Professionals. The chapter must obtain CFRE Continuing Education Provider Status for all programs it offers, co-sponsor a CFRE certification review course, and sponsor a Fundamentals of Fundraising Course.

Other Objectives Include

  • Making a chapter gift and meeting the overall goal for the BE the CAUSE Campaign
  • Sponsoring a collegiate chapter
  • Hosting a National Philanthropy Day® Event
  • Effectively communicating with our membership and regional community
  • Promoting active participation in public policy issues
  • Growing chapter membership

By meeting these objectives, our chapter ensures that high-quality services are provided to our members and that the community becomes more aware of the impact of philanthropy in the region. There is also a Ten Star level with fewer requirements, but the Cleveland Chapter has elected to strive for the Ten Star Gold designation.

AFP's Strategic Plan is the blueprint for organizational growth and success in the future. For the strategic plan to be effective, it must be implemented through a partnership between the International Headquarters and the local chapters. As each chapter contributes to the overall Strategic Plan, AFP will continue to meet its goals and advance philanthropy and the fundraising profession worldwide. One of the plan's specific goals requires AFP to embrace and engage diverse individuals, groups, and organizations within the fundraising profession.

To be recognized as Friends of Diversity Chapters, local chapters must have an extensive plan to encourage diversity within their membership and the fundraising development profession throughout their region.
